At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Castle of Lombardy to begin an exciting guided tour of Enna. You'll discover the beauty of this city known as the "navel of Sicily". Let's go!
First, we'll tour the castle, a huge fortress built by the Normans on the highest point of the city to defend against enemy attacks. Did you know that it's one of the most important and largest castles in Sicily? We'll learn all about its history as we admire its three large courtyards, walls, and gardens.
Next, we'll head to the center of Enna, where we'll see the Cathedral of Maria Santissima della Visitazione, the city's mother church and a national monument. Plus, this cathedral is surrounded by elegant 18th-century buildings. You'll be enchanted!
The guided tour will then continue to discover historic buildings such as the Town Hall, the Garibaldi Theater, and the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi. Inside the church, which is located in one of the city's main squares, we'll see precious paintings and visit a striking crypt in the church's basement that's carved into the rock!
After touring the church, we'll conclude the private tour by heading to the nearby Belvedere of Enna, one of the city's most beautiful vantage points from which we can enjoy a spectacular view of Madonie Park.
